How long does it take to evict a tenant?

As the tenants have made (or will be making) themselves voluntarily homeless by not paying the rent it's unlikely the local council will help them. The council will say stay as long as you can as we can't help.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

so you want me to stop advising, dean, and seek advice instead? Any particular topic......?
Pretty sure you've got the wrong end of the stick. You are reading this like "deanna" wants you to stop advising. I read it that he/she wants people to use the word advice instead of advise when they say:
"I am seeking advise about blah".0 -

Not sure that automatically applies if the tenant can show they were unable to afford the rent.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We were asked if we were prepared to let them stay if they could show they can afford it. We are pretty sure they can, now, afford it - after a bit of a blip in the summer. We have said no, that we want the house back.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Long story short, tenant hasn't paid rent since September. We served the section 21 notice to quit, the date for quitting was yesterday.
They are still there.....the service by the landlord of a notice to quit is of no effect in relation to a periodic assured tenancy.
A section 21 notice does not end a tenancy nor require the tenant to leave so it's hardly surprising they are still there...
Don't get angry: Stay calm & determined...
You will very probably need time, money, cunning & attention to detail to evict & then get your money: Remain apparently friendly to the tenants, smile, wave to them be cheery...
a) You might find they let slip something useful...
b) It may well wind them up..or at the very least confuse them.
c) Much less chance of being accused to harassment.0 -

The council helping them or not would make little difference(if any).
If the council will help them, they will tell the tenants to sit tight.
If the council won't help them, the tenants will be forced to sit tight, or be pro-active.
The OP would be well advised to tell the tenants that if the rent is not paid within 7 days, they will write the council stating that they are in rent arrears.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0
