  • Well done to your legally aided solicitor, who by the way earns nowhere near the figures quoted on here.

A good example of criminal defence work against the mindless police, assisting an innocent person v prosecution.

I would say CREAM has given the most sensible advice. Other than a bit of time what have you got to lose. Some of the advice is ridiculous. Marktheshark saying tell them to get a warrant - they don't need a warrant to arrest someone. They may need it to come in and search the house, but do you want to be arrested in front of family/neighbours/friends if this happens outside the house? As Chanz said, you could be arrested on suspicion of.

Doing it this way they are allowing you to do this at your convenience. If arrested you will be doing it when they want and you will still be giving the same details. Even if they say there is nothing they are going to do why do things the hard way?

There are always going to be people full of bravado saying "tell the banks/police/DCA's to get lost" and that they would not do what they are asked. Its your choice really. Do you want to be the big I AM and risk things going wrong, or to sort out the problems you have over payment for the caravan?

That's not strictly true, police must have a warrant to arrest someone at home,
  • Falsely reporting a crime is itself a crime.

The police tend to steer clear of prosecuting companies (even though they're "people" as far as the law is concerned) as it's hard to get the handcuffs on, but it would be nice to see one hit with a hefty fine, just once, as a reminder that large companies are not above the law.
