No receipt given

Hi,
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but couldn't find it on a search...

I had an electrician around to repair a wall heater in a flat I rent - the repair was authorised by the landlord.

I asked for a receipt and he said to text my email and he would get 'the office' to email me one on Tuesday 8th (that was 5th December) and was for £70. I could only pay cash or chq and I only had cash, so paid with that.

I've text a couple of times and called a few times also but no receipt sent. He said I would get one today, but nothing so far. The registered 'office' is his house, so obviously a one man band.

I'm getting a bit sick of asking now, as I can't reclaim it from the landlord without a receipt.

I don't think he is obliged to send a receipt - is this true? Has anyone had the same issue and resolved it without getting shirty?

Did you check the electrician was at least certified in something before working on the property?

Me...If I was getting nowhere getting a receipt I'd make my own invoice and send it to the landlord. I'd attach the business card of the electrician to the invoice.

Next time don't pay for repairs. Let the landlord sort it.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

A lot of one man bands are not good at paperwork. Stop texting him. Speak to him and explain that you need a receipt in order to reclaim from your LL, in the next 48 hours please.
I'm assuming that he failed to provide a minor works cert either?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
