Cheap energy club incorrect?
Hi, I've joined the cheap energy club, put in my details etc, however, the current price for my tariff it's estimating, is quite a bit off, therefore making any savings / deals incorrect. It says to re check my details, which I have, and which are correct.
Any ideas?
I've been quote £1172 with british gas, duel fuel, having just moved into a new house. Obviously the proof will be in the metre readings so not sure if that's good or not. Fixed price until July 18, no penalty break clause.

What information are you putting into the MSE CEC comparison site? I switched suppliers last week and entered my projected consumption in kWhs into MSE CEC, Which Switch and the individual suppliers' websites and got exactly the same projected annual spend. I got the same result when I entered the tariff details into a spreadsheet. If you are not using KWhs then it is possible that you will get differing results. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi Buzzz,
The accuracy of your CEC results is dependent on the information which you’ve entered into your Cheap Energy Club account. To calculate the costs on your current tariff, Cheap Energy Club takes the usage which you’ve entered on your account and works out (based on your tariff’s rates) how much this would cost you over a year and on average per month.
Sometimes we do hear from users who think that the calculations shown aren’t quite right. We’re happy to look into these as accuracy is really important to us, but normally it is as a result of one of the following reasons (our team carry out lots of tariff checks):
- Incorrect tariff selected – some suppliers have some very similarly named e.g. Online Fix Feb 2016 and Price Fix Feb 2016, which have different prices, so do make sure you’ve got the right version selected
- Usage wrong way around – we often see users enter their usage for electricity in the gas box and vice versa which can lead to unusual results
- Direct Debit set-up at incorrect level - It’s nothing to worry about if you find the monthly cost figure differs slightly from your actual direct debit, this is completely normal – your direct debit is based on an estimate of how much you’ll use and your supplier should tweak this at your payment reviews (sometimes 6 monthly or annually).
I hope this helps. If you’re still struggling drop us a note through to energyclub AT moneysavingexpert.com and we’ll take a look at your account.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay. I will take a look when logged back on to a PC (rather than through phone), but seem to recall I answered the questions through the website, which I don't recall being asked my estimated kwhs consumption, may be wrong though?0

I'm piggy-backing on this thread as I can't find where else to ask.
My current supplier details were incorrect in my Cheap Energy Club entry, so yesterday I updated them. Today I've received an e-mail from the CEC reading: Oops, the energy firm hasn't accepted your switch! Grrr. Sometimes things go wrong, and I'm afraid the supplier you wanted to switch to has not gone through .......
I HAVEN'T switched!! These automatic computer tricks can be a PITA.
I did enter the correct details, I was careful about that.0 -

Hi schiff,
That does seem odd. If you drop us an email at energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com we'll have a look at your account for you.
