IMAP Email account change

The error message I see all the time now:


An unknown error has occurred
Windows Live Mail error ID:0x800c006c
SMPT Port:0
Secure (SSL):No


Can anybody decipher this!!

Unfortunately the links in that article do not work. How do I cancel the existing account and start again using the same password and email address. Wiping the slate clean and starting again might work. Who is my email client - Windows Live or BT Yahoo?

Windows Live is just another email client, a program that allows you to access any email address as long as you have the providers server details and a password.

Your email provider is Yahoo via your ISP which is BT

I told you how to do this (I think). In summary:- (assuming you're still using WLM)
0. record (write down!) existing mail settings AND password
1. disable mail sync/send/receive of current mail account (reason to disable rather than delete - you can refer back to the settings at any time)
2. create new mail account under WLM using settings I linked to in previous post

Are you going to go for IMAP or POP this time?

Should be set at 25 if not SSL, your settings are wrong
Grumpy knows more about Livemail than I , but I stil recommend Thunderbird instead.

As above, it sounds like your SMTP settings are wrong. These appear to be the ones you need:

In short, you need to enable SSL, but not STARTTLS, and use port 993.
