Paying for repair on goods that were faulty at manufacture

Our Renault Scenic has recently had the common dashboard failure issue. Renault are going to charge us £150 to fix it. My question is, when it's a known manufacturing fault which they have fully admitted to, why do we have to pay anything at all?
We also lose out as the trade in value will now be reduced due to the fact the mileage can't be transferred over.
Our car is 12 yrs old so I doubt I'd be hugely successful if I argued the point as it's trade in value is probably rubbish anyway :rotfl: but that's not really the point.

I don't see why the trade in value would be affected at all. You will have the documentation to prove that the dashboard has been replaced so not really an issue.
I had to have the dash replaced on a car I owned once. I still got full book price for it when I traded it in.0 -

Do you really think you should be entitled to a lifetime guarantee for any and all defects?0 -
The original owner would have had 6 years to chase the fault, after that your on your own.0
