One way car hire San Francisco

I am looking to book car hire from San Francisco to Las Vegas in September and just wondering if anyone can confirm which hire companies definitely do not charge one way fees.

There are so many horror stories about people supposedly not having one way charges and then suddenly finding out at pick up that they need to pay them I just want to ensure I don't suffer the same fate.

Hertz for instance supposedly do not charge one way fees but when going through the booking process the web page states no fees but the final payment page states one way fees may apply but don't stipulate what they are

Have you looked at airport to airport locations?

Not really as we are staying 4 nights in SF first and have no need of a car. I suppose we could go back to pick the car up if necessary......I'll check it out

Try a quote on Hertz and tick the 'Apply a Discount Code'

Enter DRIVE for the rate code
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

It doesn't apply this code but thanks anyway. It also still does not state whether or not one way fees apply or not.

Picking up from the airport is no cheaper either which isn't an issue. The rental prices are fine I just don't want to get stung with hidden fees at pick up

If it doesn't state an actual one way fee then there is no fee.
One-way rentals are those consisting of picking up in one city and returning the vehicle to another city or location.
Availability is based on the location's restrictions and the vehicle type being taken one-way. Fees for one-way will be assessed at time of booking.

If you want to be doubly sure, you can book and then call them. It's free to cancel.

Thank you, that's exactly what I needed. The sites are fully transparent and Alamo actually state one way fees are included. :T

It is also worth, if you have not already, getting a separate excess policy. The car hire firms will still try and sell you extra insurance at the desk but with the correct excess policy you should be fine refusing them
