Car Insurance after Theft (Total Loss)

Hi All,
I recently had my car stolen and the car has not been recovered, as a result it was declared as a total loss. I have now replaced my car which is insured on my policy which I had taken out for my car which was stolen.
My renewal is due early next year and I am concerned about where I stand. I had 2 years ncb before I made my claim which I understand I will lose due to me not been able to protect it. I am currently 20 and I have been driving since 17. The quotations I have obtained online are obsurd to say the least after declaring the claim.
Is there anything I can do in this situation, as I feel like im being penalised for the theft which I am not at fault for.
Thanks
Jack

You will have nil NCD at renewal (you haven't lost out because you didn't protect it, as you normally need to have amassed around 4 years before becoming eligible to pay for protected NCD)
Use the MSE article ("Quick Link" in red at the top of the page) on car insurance as a guide to shopping round for the best deal, but a higher premium is inevitable in view of losing all your NCD and none being awarded for this year.0 -

Unfortunately it isn't a no-fault bonus. It's a no-claim bonus. Although it feels harsh that is how insurance works.0 -

Get quotes from other insurers is about all you can do.
You're not being penalised for your car being stolen. You chose to make a claim after it was stolen and unfortunately once you do that, for whatever the reason is your premiums will rise. All your base are belong to us.0
