Nationwide contactless credit card to ge launched next year

I went into a Nationwide branch today for some stuff and walked pass the figital advertisement board. On the digital advertisement board, it displayed their credit card with a contactless symbol on it. There website doesn't reflect this.

I've asked the branch staff about the contactless feature on the credit card, and they said it's in the pipeline to be launched early next year (no exact date yet).

Don't have an iPhone so can't have Apple Pay. It will be useful that the contactless feature is on the card.

Even though I have an iPhone, I still don't want to use Apple Pay. :o

I'm confused. Do you have an iPhone?

    Jimmy,

    I don't have an iphone.

The second paragraph meant to say 'if I had an iPhone I wouldn't want apple pay on it. Prefer to use a contactless card.'
  • I have to say I prefer to use my apple pay than contactless, only so i don't have to carry around my wallet and risk loosing my card. I use apple watch so even if i don't have my phone on me i know as long as the store takes contactless ill be fine.

I love it, and can swap between cards registered just with a swipe. Have never had any issues either in acceptance.

Understand though why some people don't like or would want the feature.

Nothing's new about contactless credit cards generally, but some banks don't provide them.

HSBC and First Direct don't provide them either, -only their debit cards are contactless.

I don't know why everyone is so pressed for banks to offer contactless.
