I-Phone 4s can't find Wifi router.......

Looking for advice.

My son has an I-phone 4s and is having problems finding any Wifi router. The phone searches for Wifi signals but doesn't find any, not even the neighbours or the one at College. We have tried entering the home BT wifi router manually but still no joy.

Any help would be really appreciated...

    I am no iPhone expert, but I remember a flood of complaints about 4s wifi stopping working after iOS upgrade a year ago.
