Signing off JSA?

Im just wondering how and when to go about signing off JSA. My first signing to actually receive benefit is tomorrow ( have been signing on for nearly 2 weeks but yet to receive any money).
I have a temp job ( hopefully long term temp) starting Monday. Do I let them know tomorrow that I'm starting Monday or wait and try and find time to call them Monday? I'd ideally like to tell them tomorrow to take effect Monday but am worried I won't get any money and I need that money, not having had a y for 3 weeks and having to wait to get paid in my new job.
Any thoughts?

Either is fine - you won't lose any £ - although they usually advise to call them once you've started. [You can just sign and post the booklet but best not during the Christmas post season]

call once you have started; just in case.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Thanks. I'm just panicking about it all as I really need some money. I'm also not sure how much it will be as I put my claim in on a weds but my appointment wasn't until the Friday and they said there is a waiting period.
Still I am grateful for whatever I get.
Just keeping my fingers crossed the job works out.

The 'waiting days' are 7, so you should receive a week's JSA 3 working days after you sign. Although new claims can take time to set up and go 'live.' You'll also be paid until Sunday ie around 1 week's worth JSA in your 2nd/final payment.
