Can anyone help? We have a small courier business and we need to insure 2 vans for courier use, there are 4 drivers in total who may at any point need to drive these vans and one of the drivers only requires to drive these vans on a part-time basis, i.e. to cover for holidays or if the 2 permanent drivers are off sick. He is self-employed full-time as a signmaker and as he drives as a courier part-time and a full-time signmaker (both self-employed), and has his own van for his signmaking business - in insurance eyes this is classed as having multi occupations. Does anyone know if there are any insurance companies out there who will do this as we have been in business for 10 years insuring our vans for courier use but as 1 of the drivers has now a 2nd occupation, this is where we are experiencing difficulties. Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

Will the employee be driving your vehicle in connection with his own business or does he use one of his own?

He uses a completely different vehicle for his signmaking business.

I would suggest speaking to a broker so that you can fully explain the circumstances and allow them to search for suitable policies.

I don't understand why this is a problem. Which insurer?


Are you doing this yourself or using a broker? What do you do for other covers?

We have commercial vehicle insurance with Aviva.
Any driver over 25. Business or private use.
