hot spot on internal party wall?

Yes it was one spot which was quite warm about 6 inches square and for about 12 inches it was just warm to the touch, I have lived here for over 20 years and never noticed it before and it was only for the fact that I happened to get a coat from the built in wardrobe and I felt that one sleeve was warm that I noticed it at all, I have checked the spot on the wall several times since at different times of the day and have not felt the hotspot since, very strange.0
