which savings plan?

Hi,
I want to invest up to £500/month for my children (need 2 accounts) but the accounts need to be easily accessible for withdrawals, just in case....so an ISA is not appropriate and my monthly amount may vary. I would hope that they would be long term investments, but cannot guarantee it. Who has the best savings plan at present? I have an e-saver account so cannot open another one - help!
Thanks
