Advice on a car i bought

Im asking here as im sure someone will know.
I bought a car from a main dealer last year and 6 months later a noise developed. Cut a long story short, it was diagnosed on the 3rd visit and it turned out they knew about it from other cars they had in. However they did not tell me about this when I bought it, which I feel they should have and I wouldnt have bought it if id have known.
Basically its 'bubbling' in the engine due to the fuel pressure and to be honest im not happy about it. Plus a new gear box after 20,000 miles.
I spent about £10k on this and was hoping it would last 6-7 years buts im not prepared to listen to the noise for that long, considering I drive quite a few miles a day.
Ive had the car just over a year, what are my chances of getting my money back or some kind of deal on a replacement vehicle?
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

I'm sure if you take it back they'll do you a deal when you trade it in.0

Bubbling from the engine?
Make and model would be helpful0 -
You sure there isn't an exhaust leak at the manifold?0

How could they have told you about it when you bought it, if it didn't exist for six months after you bought it?However they did not tell me about this when I bought it, which I feel they should have and I wouldnt have bought it if id have known.Basically its 'bubbling' in the engine due to the fuel pressure and to be honest im not happy about it.
Is the bubbling sound like you get with fine champagne, or the comforting sound of percolating coffee?was hoping it would last 6-7 years buts im not prepared to listen to the noise for that long, considering I drive quite a few miles a day.
How badly have you and the previous owners treated the gearbox and how many miles has the car done total?Plus a new gear box after 20,000 miles.
Money back after over a year and 20,000 miles and after the car has started to develop problems which were not there when it was sold to you? Why would they want to give you the money back and take back your old car? You could sell it back to them but the money you got back from selling it back to them would be quite a lot less than the money you originally paid.Ive had the car just over a year, what are my chances of getting my money back
There are always deals to be done on replacement vehicles but you are unlikely to get a better deal on a new car simply because the car you want to trade in has got faults. When your trade in a car for a replacement you get less value for your trade in, not more value, if what you're trading in is faulty and you haven't fixed it.or some kind of deal on a replacement vehicle?
Just to be clear, the car started being noisy after about six months and now you've had it for over a year so the problem has been there for more than half a year and it has been diagnosed but nobody's fixed it? Is that because the fuel pressure is an unfixable characteristic of the engine or because you haven't wanted to pay for repairs?
And the gearbox thing you mentioned as a throwaway comment, have you changed the gearbox, or do you still need to change the gearbox? And was the gearbox wear and tear or was it a fault covered by some kind of warranty like some components are when you buy second-hand cars from main dealers? Or is the gearbox all sorted and not really connected with your current dislike for the car's condition?0 -
Does the vehicle have any warranty outstanding on it? If it does the dealer may rectify under warranty0

Another "new" poster with a strange scenario . . .0

Bubbling, assuming we're talking about air getting in, might be caused by heat soak - especially if the car is dark in colour, although some say it doesn't matter.societys_child wrote: »Another "new" poster with a strange scenario . . .0 -
So, basically, you would never buy any car where the dealer might be aware of common faults?
Since all manufacturers release technical bulletins describing common faults to their dealers regularly, I think you're going to be doing a lot of walking.0 -
Make, model, age, mileage, car sold with any warranty? But, in the absence of a crystal ball, I'd say that a year after purchase, and 6 months after the noise started, not a hope in hell of the dealer taking it back and giving a full refund. You've had a year's usage of it, remember? No free lunch, and no free laptop

I think that without the info you have requested we can consider this a trolling thread.0
