Letting your tap dribble the lead out?

How strong does the tap have to be on when you run it in the morning, to get the lead out? I was just wondering if letting it come out as weakly as possible is as effective, obviously wastes less water. Thanks.

How much lead are we talking about?

You can get the water tested to find out the levels.

If high it would be cheaper to replace the pipes.

That sounds like a big waste of water.

You only need to remove heavy metals for drinking water, so I would have a word with Pozzani.

They have a selection of cartridges for different water problems.

The Brita style one size fit all filter is expensive and doesn't address particular issues.

No idea about the lead, I just meant getting the lead out in general.

I'm quite old - and have never heard of this before. If I were you I'd worry about real things, like if you've got enough sweeties for Xmas. Far more devastating if you get that wrong!

    Then get the water tested.

You would need to run the taps for a minute each time you want a glass of water. It would probably even be cheaper getting bottled water.

Change your pipes if you're worried. Most of the time the levels are harmless. In hard water areas scale builds up on the inside of the pipes protecting the water. The lead won't leach into the water.

No point in changing your pipes........
In many areas the mains pipes are still lead.

Doesn't everyone run the tap for a short while to get the lead out in the morning?
