Standing order cancelled

Hi,

I am with lloyds bank and i went on my online banking, i wanted to cancel a standing order and when i went to do it, it asked me for a password. I did not know my password so tried one i thought it may be.

I then got no cofirmation that it had been cancelled and it went back to my internet banking where the standing order was still shown there so i assumed it had not been cancelled

A month later the standing order didnt come out. So it must have cancelled

Whats the issue you ask? The issue is i had no confirmation it had been cancelled so told the person it was going to that it was still coming out and that they were to then give me the money back in cash until i could go to the bank and cancel

Anyone had any similar experience? Or an explination to help me for when i call the bank?

Thanks alot

  • Ring the bank and ask if it is cancelled, Cannot even work out what your issue is due to the nonsense type post.

To login against online banking you need a password which you have clearly used to look at the account so therefore have the password info and you say that no money has gone out yet you want cash from the person who it was set up for, None of this makes sense to be frank and you would need to explain it better and make a call and ask the bank.

The password to cancel the standing order is almost certainly the password to your internet banking. Is the standing order now shown on your list of standing orders and showing as current?
  • The iternet banking is set up on my mobile, has been for years so i only ever enter the other password as there is two. As i am auto logged on

You never receive any sort of confirmation via email or any other means really for any SOs for any bank. It will tell you on the screen it's been cancelled and should disappear from online banking and that's about it.

It may have been a bug. Or, perhaps, you misread the screen.

I've deleted a Starding Order used the Halifax app (similar to the LLoyds one). Afterwards, it disappeared from the Standing Order list I'm returned to.

I'm not sure why you didn't simply view the Standing Order list on your phone again to confirm; or attempt to delete it again if you thought it failed the first time.

You wanted to cancel a Standing Order; it was cancelled.

What's the issue here? You want a bit of compo?
  • If you go into a branch they ought to be able to confirm status of all standing orders, including expired and manually cancelled ones. Hopefully they can also print this information out so you have evidence to show your friend, if that's the main issue here.
    : )
  • With Lloyds once a standing order is cancelled all record of the details go with it.
