Barclaycard credit limit change

i've just logged in to my Barclaycard account to request a limit increase so I can do some balance shuffling between 0% offers. I submitted the request (a £1500 increase) and was sent to a screen telling me my request couldn't be processed.

Then, on my summary screen, my credit limit had changed instantly to the new higher one. My balance transfer offers show the new amount available too.

I realise nobody except Barclaycard can tell me if this is an error or if I was somehow 'pre-approve' for that size of increase, but I wondered if the same has happened to anybody else, it if this is generally known to be done by Barclaycard?

I have seen the "can't process your request" screen too. I think it is dished up when there is some kind of server timeout/connection problem.

Sounds like your limit raise was approved and there was simply a communication error in getting the answer back to you.

I think it's just a bit buggy as I have had the same thing happen before, obviously they haven't fixed the issue when they updated the interface.

Hi. Me too had the same message when applied for last limit change, but the new limit was available straight away.
As others said, it seems to be a bug. But the limit did get increased and used for a balance transfer.

One thing I am aware of Barclaycard is if u put down say 10k increase it will show maximum credit limit they can increase it by. If your pre-apprpved limit is 11k then it will increase it to 10k immediately otherwise will offer you a lower amount.

Would Barclaycard do a credit check on credit limit increases?

I want to have an increase too, not sure which amount to put as I don't want a decline etc...

I had a £1k increase a couple of weeks ago, it was an instant yes so I don't think they could have done a credit check in that space of time. I felt that it was just automated rather than having human input.
