Cheapest way to pay someone with an AMEX

Hello,

If I wish to transfer funds into someone's bank account from my AMEX - what is the cheapest way of doing so?

I am aware that via PayPal it will cost me 3.4%+ 20p on the transaction. I have searched through AMEX's guides and the do not seem to have a service whereby I can directly pay someone via their own website.

Does anyone have an experience with this? I am looking for the cheapest way of doing it.

You can't pay somebody with AMEX unless they are a retailer who accepts AMEX.

Even if they did it would be treated like a cash transfer and unless you have some promotional offer then there would be fees and interest (assuming credit card not charge). You could withdraw cash, pay that into a bank account to and transfer the money that way but there would still be fees and interest.

I'm not sure how Amex treat PayPal money transfers but I've sent money using a Barclaycard and only paid the PayPal fees with no cash transaction fee from Barclaycard itself. I suppose it depends on how much you are sending as to whether the fees are worth it.
