Query regarding refund amount from game.co.uk

I have a question about a promised refund amount.

I ordered a PS4 bundled with three games.

Two of those games didn't arrive. I discussed with a representative via online chat, and he said he could refund the full online price of those games - even though they were part of a bundle. Total refund 22.99 + 46.99 = 68.98.

When the refund arrived, it was only 30.98. On querying, I was told that the first representative had misinformed me, and I should only have been offered a discounted price as they were part of a bundle - and now the refund had been issued a replacement was no longer possible. So there's nothing they can do.

I am going to raise a formal complaint, but what I want to know is - is the statement from the original representative legally binding? Or are they allowed backtrack like this? I only accepted the refund based upon the stated amount.

Thanks.

Have you tried telling them "thats fine, I'll just return the ps4 and x game for a full refund of the remaining sum, please arrange a courier to collect the other items"?

You may not be able to force them to give the stated refund amount, but nor should you be forced to accept something you didn't order - especially in response to a breach of contract on their part. If they try and argue that you accepted the variation, just point out you accepted it at x price and not the price they are now offering - and that any contractual term allowing them to do that, would effectively behave as a price variation clause which is bound to upset the legal balance of the contract as it makes it binding on you but not on them.

And once they factor in return postage costs, they should realise that upping their offer is more economical for them.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Do you have the manuscript of the online chat with the promised refund?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
