BSoD (kernal_data_inpage_error) since last windows update of Win7

I have a modern (i5 Processor) PC running windows 7 Pro (my choice.)
It is not modified in any way and has no special software. I do not play games except modest ones. It has an NVIDIA graphics card. Generally I use the Chrome interface with Google as my front end/search engine. It is cabled into the Virgin media router on our home network. I have auto updates scheduled for overnight.
Earlier this week I walked into my home office to see the dreaded BSoD with a kernal_data_inpage_error message. The text suggested restarting the system if this was the first time this error had appeared. I did this and all seemed normal. It reported there had been an overnight update and restart of the system by Microsoft.
I went away to do something else and when I came back the BSoD had returned. I restarted my pc and looked up the causes and possible solutions. They were many and complex for a non techie type like me. A primary caused suggested was, worryingly, hard disk failure. I debated calling my PC "nerd".
Then I realised that the BSoD appearing seemed to correspond to the Google screen saver cutting in. So I turned off the screensaver and bingo, problem solved. Something in the call to the screen saver was triggering the error. No idea what. Clearly related to the Win 7 upgrade by MS. All I do know is since I turned off the screen saver, my pc works.
Just offering this as a possible solution for anyone else for whom the BSoD kernal_data_inpage_error has started appearing.
