Xmas present, a lump sum bill!

If you've been paying FU for gas and elec, and they've only been providing you with gas, then you'll have a large sum of credit sat on account. Use that to pay off BG.0

Is your real name Rob Titchener?0

I am beginning to wonder why anybody bothers to post a problem on these forums. It is time that personal insults were deleted and posters banned.

I'm with FU and they ask me for meter readings every month and send me an e-mail every month telling me that my bill/statement is available.
I go into my FU account to check that the bill reflects the readings that I've given them and that it's correct. On the odd occasion that they've done something wrong - like put in their own estimate I've been straight onto them and got it sorted out.
If you don't keep an eyes on your bills, statements and bank accounts you can easily end up with a big problem - spend 15 minute a month checking to make sure you don't end up with the same problem again.
Yes, it's a FU (text removed by MSE Forum Team) but you've got to accept some responsibility for not checking. Just be thankful that it's not come to light this time next year when you'll owe £500 or more.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
When you have given First Utility your gas and electricity meter reads previously what did they say?0

Cheers
I think everyone on here accepts it is FU's fault, albeit you could/should have checked.
I think we all accept that it is not the fault of BG, so why shouldn't you pay their bill? and then attempt to get some compensation from FU.
What do you think should happen?
Incidentally what FU told you on the phone, might not be the way they will express it in writing.0
