I'm young so I don't have the credit rating to hop around and open a billion bank accounts, or at least I don't think I can without it affecting my credit score.
Have you tried applying for current accounts?

You shouldn't be worried about what a current account application does to your credit score. Firstly, the credit score is a meaningless number used by CRAs. Secondly, unless you want a big loan or mortgage in the next 6-12 months, current account applications won't be an issue. Thirdly, having held down one or more current accounts for a year or five without getting any defaults will actually stand you in good stead somewhere down the line.
