Yes they are all in full time school so it is easier for me to go full time. The main issue is around the time my partner is recovering as i will need to be available for school runs etc. It's only a short period of time and the recovery could be less than 6 weeks, but it's enough to cause a disturbance.
As others have mentioned ESA is probably the option for the 6 weeks.
After her recovery period, if one of you worked at least 16hrs and the other worked at least 8hrs then you could claim WTC.
A couple needs to work at least 24hrs between them (if one isn't disabled or on carers allowance). You should be able manage those hours around all children in school/college.
If you both worked 16hrs you could claim for help with childcare if needed (only for the under 16s).
If you both worked 16hrs you'd also get the extra element for doing 30hrs combined.0
