No, I just have a spinning disc meter.

Some smart meters are programmed to measure export, but I believe the earlier ones weren't. It gets particularly problematic if your FIT company isn't also your electricity supplier.

Outside my knowledge area, but I have pondered before on how the FiT payment companies operate. One assumes they reclaim the money paid out from a fund somewhere and they are paid a handling charge for each payment made?

One can change FiT companies, so it appears the answer is to change FiT company when changing energy supplier. One company responsible for both should give an easy life here is how I see it.

I had my gas and electric meters replaced with smart meters by EON a week ago. After some concern testing the mobile signal strength - EON uses O2 and coverage is poor here - the actual changeover took about one hour.
I was provided with an internal unit which talks wirelessly with the meters and can display current usage and historical usage by day, month or year for both gas and electricity. It displays in kWh, or by cost. As it communicates through the meters to EON, the cost is shown using my actual current tariff. I can also see the actual meter readings so do not need to go outside to check meters.
If I am displaying electricity usage and the sun is strong enough for my solar to start exporting, the usage drops to zero and a pylon-like icon shows on the screen. The meter does not measure solar generation or export.
