Temporary home/contents insurance for OCCUPIED property

Good morning,

I am looking for short term insurance (until approx end of january 2016) for me, for my house and contents, as my current policy expires in the next week, and I dont move into my new home for another 6 weeks!

I have searched online and made a few phonecalls, but either have the "we dont offer short term policies" reply, or they only offer short term policies for empty properties!

I have a new policy which comes hand in hand with the mortgage which will start on the date we complete, but they are not able to start it now

Can anyone please recommend a company who could help me in the short term?

How about taking out an annual policy but then cancelling it? Watch out for high cancellation fees.
