The Saturday is not a bank holiday, so unless there is express provision for it in your contract or your employer says otherwise, you should expect normal rate.

I think you would be paid as a Bank Holiday for Monday 28th not the Saturday as it is the official "holiday in lieu".

Rates of pay are contractual without the contractual information people can only guess.

All depends on your contract, some people will be working Christmas Day and Boxing Day for normal rate, just the way it is.

I think that's shocking! Many moons ago I worked Boxing Day in a shop and received double time. NHS workers receive between time plus 30-50% depending on pay band for all time on Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8 pm and before 6 am and on Sundays and public holidays a band 1 gets double time whilst other bands get time plus between 60-80%.

Maybe that's why the finances of the NHS are in such a mess.

    It's 10pm where I work...

Like others before us have said, it depends on the contract.

Some people have to work nights, continental shifts or a particular shift pattern which can fall on or into Sundays and Bank Holidays and not be paid any extra because they've signed a contract which obliges them to work that shift pattern.

I am lucky, in that I work for the NHS and receive enhanced pay for the above mentioned circumstances and even though there are budget cuts which are making life difficult, I know I would struggle to find similar rates of pay elsewhere.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Why? Because staff who are pretty poorly paid for what they do get enhancements for unsocial hours? Frontline staff are not the problem in the NHS. Take away unsocial hours and look forward to relying even more on expensive agency staff at £500 an hour (only most of that goes to the agency, not the employee).
