Moving money from a Credit Card after a refund.

Hi,

We've recently sold our car and have had the insurance refunded to our credit card which is now approximately £500 in credit rather than debt.

Is there some way to transfer that money back to our current account?

The only way is to ask the CC provider.

DO NOT do this. Never withdraw cash on a credit card, regardless if it's in credit or not as it may well still show as a cash advance.

Speak to the credit card provider and they'll most likely be able to refund it to a bank account for you.
  • And would also incur a fee....

Obviously, it a was tong-in-cheek reply to the OP's ill-defined question...
  • Thanks for the quick reply from everyone, I will try and contact the bank the credit card is connected to first to see if they can transfer the money. If that becomes a dead end I'll try the credit card company directly.

    Cheers.

What bank and CC company are these? Regardless, you have only one point of contact.
  • I overpaid my HSBC credit card once, a few years ago after forgetting I had set up a Future Dated Payment. Phoned the bank up and they transferred it into my current account with no fees. Took 2-3 days due to it being a BACS payment.
