Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon everyone

I have managed a couple of wins today that I am celebrating.
    1. Yesterday I tried to use a get 80 extra nectar points voucher if I bought £5 worth of canned fish the wording only excludes fresh or frozen not basics. At the till the lady couldn't add it on and when I asked why she said it was because I'd bought basics. The supervisor came but she wasn't very enlightening and I could tell she just wanted rid as it was heaving in the store. Instead of accepting that verdict I emailed cs at Mr S and today they wrote back offering me the points and said they'd tell the marketing department it was poorly worded.
    2. On Saturday both me and Mr Bob had our oyster cards debited for several quid all of a sudden. We worked out that we must have not touched out at a station. To add insult to injury when Mr Bob tried to pop up his £5 coins were swallowed and nothing added to his card so he had to then use his bank card to top up. Imagine if those £5 were all he had and he'd had to get to work? It's an unmanned station so no one to discuss with. I immediately emailed oyster and have resulted in a £3.70 refund for me, same for him plus the £5 coins too. My mum taught me one good thing which was always to write and complain, and it's earned me countless £££ over the years. Best example being a free meal at a west end restaurant ;)

Have done all the usual to today like checking banking, walking, & planning low cost dinners.

Sorry to type and run but I have a dead arm from holding a sleeping small (not so small anymore) person.

    Back later

    Bob

    Hi everyone :)
Thank you Carrie for starting us off today :)

LaE - Thank you for the tip RE the nails :) mine started chipping so I took them off and didn't think of that :( haha do you know if you can use just normal varnish on them and then put the top coat on top to seal it and make it last longer? I used the nail protectors on my second lot but they come off the next day :( so won't be using them again haha. I love it though such a good set. I showed mum but she said it was a lot. I did her nails and she's now gone and got herself one for Xmas from dad!!

No post yesterday, had a nice lay in, went to town to get last Xmas presents and went to mum's to decorate her tree :)
I finally finished writing out all the Xmas cards and thank you notes :T now just need to send them.... haha

I loved reading about everyone's Christmas activities and presents for the little ones :) I love the balloon idea DNMS :D I can't wait to have a child(ren) of my own so I can do stuff like that :) I love the idea of the three gifts as well :) My friend has a three month old baby so I got him a cute little outfit. She's said she's not getting him anything this year because he is too young to understand and lots of people are buying him things. I totally agree, some kids these days have loads spent on them and done appreciate it!! My mum and dad were the same as yours CLF we had £100 each and to us that was like "Wow, thats so much!!" but we really appreciated it. And they didn't spend the rest of the year paying it off. Some parents these days seem to compete with each other for the "best" and most expensive presents and the children don't appreciate it, it is so sad :( Anyway I could talk about this all day!! haha

Bob - good news about the points and the Oyster card :)

    List for today:
    - FPL
    - Lucky Phone
    - Get some washing done
    - B/L/D from stores

    - NSD (got to buy Xmas present for mum but dad's given me money as it's from him)
    - Check for MS's
    - o2 Priorities
    Read my diaryHere :)

Knitting breakthrough!! Mr f's hiking socks finished & wrapped. All the ends sewn in on Dad's jumper, shoulders joined & neckband knitted. Just got to sew up the rest of it hopefully before I go out, then can wrap it at last.
Ok, better think about getting glammed up a bit. Think I'll have a festive baking day tomorrow.

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

  • Well a slight change of plan tonight. Turns out I'd forgotten my keys and OH working tonight.

Not fazed though, just went into city, was hit by divine inspiration and got all of OH's Christmas pressies. Now enjoying a nice cider til he finishes work and picks me up.

Sometimes it's nice to be able to shrug things off :)

    Update on my day:

I got into town and realised that I didn't have my debt card - thankfully hubby took cash out of his account for me

I searched high and low for a case for my phone - none, nada, nothing ! I have ordered one online, costing about £4 whereas all of the others are £15

Hubby has investigated the breakdown cover situation and we are going with Asda - £110.....co-op have this as an insurance as extra and I looked at auto aid but I don't like the idea of paying in advance :o. I just need to cancel the aa :j

  • Evening everyone :D:D:D:D
So busy this morning that I didn't even have time to check in on here with my 'to-do' list. I had some printing to do so I made sure that we left a few minutes early. Good job, because it was an unpleasant commute in the freezing fog.
I am totally addicted to knitting again. I never seem to do things by half - the Christmas stocking is coming on a treat. I'm hoping to get my mam to teach my to crochet next - she says it's easier than knitting, but I never got the hang of it.
    Things I've gotten done today.
    :p checked banking and PAD
:p excellent ys in Mr M tonight
:p filled up car at Mr M for 99.9p per litre
    :p full day of teaching
:p marked a set of books
    :p minimal heating use
    :p load of washing
    :p small jobs for dh
:p got a bargain set of crochet hooks on eBay for £2.69
:p printed out stuff at work

I still haven't found time to write any Christmas cards and I'm starting to panic that I won't get it done in time and if I don't then this will be the first year I haven't sent any :o
Also haven't done knitting yet tonight. My mam is going to knit dd's stocking and crochet a stuffed toy as a gift for me to give to a friend's daughter...
  • Good evening everyone!
I'm pretty new to posting on these boards but thought I'd start sharing a bit more and I like the idea of celebrating the little things (especially when the journey seems like such a long one!)

    Today my dfw things are:
    - Paid £120.75 off my high interest credit card from Xmas shopping savings and rounding down
    - Asked a friend to feed my rabbits whilst I am away next weekend instead of putting them in boarding
    - Took a packed lunch to work
    - Didn't spend any money : )

    Current total debt - £3,530.22
