I have halifax account where I have received £100 incentive.

My partner doesn't have halifax account and has never received an incentive from them. My plan is to open a joint account by switching from a sole yorkshire account in my name, do you think we'll / my partner be eligible for the £100 incentive?
T&C say "Only one offer is available per customer. Joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment."
What does this mean?

The reason why I am unsure if we qualify again is because it says "You are not eligible for the offer if you have previously received any other offer or benefits for switching to a Halifax bank account at any point since January 2012 or if you're a Bank of Scotland bank account customer switching to the Halifax."

I have received, but my partner hasn't...so do we qualify for an incentive or not?

It reads like it is only available one per customer and you might have had yours

Joint means you wont get double the incentive just because it is a joint account.

.......it says "You are not eligible for the offer if you have previously received any other offer or benefits for switching to a Halifax bank account at any point since January 2012 ......

    I have received....

Why are you unsure? They are talking to you
  • because when the account is joint, is "you" collective or not? is partner who hasn't received incentive miss out just because I have had the incentive?
  • Why doesn't the OP's partner open a sole 'mule' account at any bank and then transfer it to Halifax (or any other bank offering an incentive)?
  • It's not as if i've not thought that myself, just wanted to know the answer to OP.

Halifax are probably best placed to answer your question. But then I suspect you know that.

Personally I think you'd (or rather he'd) get it if you were switching a joint into a joint and he was first named. However, I think because you're switching a sole into a joint, where the sole account holder has already had a payment, then you (or rather he) won't get it.

Give them a ring and see what they say. If you get the answer you want to hear, then take a name etc. Please report back.

If we still used thou it would all be a lot clearer.
  • If you switch a joint account to Halifax you won't get an incentive because you have already had one.

If your partner wants an incentive then they either need to open a sole account or a joint account with someone who's never had the incentive.
