Parcel Force unclaimed parcel goes to charity?

Hello,

This is an old story of a parcel and I don't know if it is still worth to talk about

Back in 2013 I was moving out of my flat in Edinburgh to my hometown overseas. I decided to send some of my household to my new house in Greece. I found an online quoting tool for parcels etc and I paid through them to Parcelforce the fee to send 7 parcels of household items plus insurance.

The van from Parcelforce came, labeled the parcels and took them. After a few days I left the flat and traveled one-way to Greece. Within 3 days after my arrival in Greece I got a phone call from a local courier service saying that my 6 parcels have arrived. Apparently one parcel hadn't been sent.

I had the tags from all parcels so I found out which one was it and used the tracking service of Parcelforce to find out what happened. The package was overweight (over 30 kg) and they were unable to accept in the depot in Greece so they sent it back to the sender.

They couldn't find no one there so they left it with a neighbor.

After endless phone calls they went back to the neighbor to collect the parcel but they were refusing to send it back to me at an increased cost. Or someone open the box, spit the items into a second box and send both to me. They were offering me only one choice. Someone to go and take the parcel and deal with it.

After some weeks the parcel ended up in a warehouse in South London until July 2014 when I tracked it again and it came up that it was unclaimed for a long time and now it's been donated to charity.

At the moment, when I enter the tracking number on the tracking system I get an error.

Does it worth to go at this warehouse, currently I live i London, and search for it or just forget about it?
Does anyone know what do they do with the unclaimed boxes?
Can I claim some sort of compensation from them?

Given the timescales. I would be surprised if anyone still holds the items.
    As for compensation.
    Did you pack it overweight?

Couldn't have been all that important to you if its sat in the UK since 2013 and you made little attempt to go and collect it (or have a friend or relative do that for you). Surprised they haven't charged you a storage fee. You've little to no chance of compensation or getting it back now so I'd chalk it up to a life experience and move on.

Since you say in the firs post that it had been donated to charity how would it still be in the warehouse?
