I used App store without any problems. I think that I downloaded Sun Mobile App but I may be wrong.

Why pay when he can get the online version for free ?

Because he hates the format of the free version and likes reading it as a paper. (Strange I know ! I have tried to convince him)

    Hi all,

The Sun is also free on Android tablets. I have just downloaded the app on my tablet and it worked fine. I assume that it also works on IPADs, etc. at no cost.

I will update my OP in a second to make sure it is clear.

Apparently the Sun became free on 30/11/2015 and anyone paying (Is it £4.99 per month or per year ?) will not be charged for it after 30/11/2015.

I am surprised that nobody has not picked this up on this forum and reported it sooner.

I am sure that it will impact the sale of the paper copy of the newspaper.

Thats not true about not paying after 30th November, hubbies £4.99 has come out for this months subscription?

With the Sun Mobile app (see my earlier post), it is totally free as it is online.

For £4.99 per month, I have to say that is very excessive for the Sun. For my Daily Telegraph tablet subscription, I paid £25 for it last year. I have renewed it last month and have paid £50 for a 12 month subscription, which is excellent value for the money as Telegraph costs over £1 per day for the paper copy.

Thanks, He downloaded your free one this morning and didn't like it as its not like reading the actual paper :(

I agree its excessive for the online version but he says that he stills saves as opposed to going and buying the actual paper everyday.

  • I was at an Odeon cinema today and there was a red display stand at the entrance with copies of the Sun newspaper on it. It said: "Pick up your free copy of the Sun", so we took one and only later did we notice it was actually yesterday's Sun on Sunday! Don't know if it's only expired issues they are giving away free or whether the cinema just hadn't got around to restocking the stand with today's paper.

I couldn't find any info online about an Odeon/Sun collaboration so I don't know if it's regional or national (this was at Edinburgh Lothian Road Odeon), or how long it's going to last. The paper had a price on the front cover and a Sun Perks code on the back page, so it wasn't a specially-printed free edition, just the regular one.
