Good Morning everyone, we're dry this morning and broken cloud but definitely NOT cold! Slept better last night but woke at 5 and couldn't stop coughing so took some medicine which kicked in after half an hour or so and I got back off until 8.30, unheard of! My muscles though are so sore from all the coughing I'm having to take pain killers, not good!
AOD I have a cheese container for the fridge that has a charcoal filter in the lid to keep down niffy pongs from cheeses that need to ripen, we brits don't seem to have got the idea that good cheese needs to age and have very few strategies to cope with that fridge odour problem. We have a good friend who is French who has a 'Cheese Cage' on her balcony, it's a wooden box with a metal mesh door that is screwed to the wall and she keeps cheeses made by her cousin(half goats milk and half cows)until they reach the required state of 'ripe', that works very well and is something I'd recommend trying. It does need to be under an open sided roofed shelter or the cheeses deteriorate if they get wet.
Have to persuade He Who Knows to get me to a couple of places today to finish up a couple of presents I need to deliver before I go off to Berlin on Tuesday and also need to do a little cooking for the freezer, particularly Yorkshire puds which they go through like a plague of locusts!
Have yourselves a really good day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning everyone.
When I woke at about 6'ish it was still dark so I stayed put, and the work up again at 9.00. It's frosty outside so your Christmas song is very topical tru. The sky is a very light blue and it's very cold.
Thanks for the suggestions last night Elona and TA. I think flowers will be the right thing as we're on a farm and they don't have a garden as such.
Not sure what's happening today yet, I shall go with the flow. I'm watching out for my red squirrel so that means spending time in the utility room - very boring and nothing to do there!
I really enjoyed Strictly last night and laughed when Jay dropped Aliona - but his dance was so good even with the drop. Didn't like Anita's routines though she did them well.
Anyway, MrsLW - hope your on the other side of your cold now and feeling better. I've just seen that you're off to Berlin next week, how lovely. It's my favourite European city and I have family there so visit every year. This year I went by train, for a change. My mum is from Berlin, Friedrichshain.
TA - poor MrTA, memo just can't help themselves!
Happy Sunday everyone.0 -
GERS Berlin is also my favourite European city, it's such an alive, vibrant, fun place to be I just love it's variety and breadth, so much to see and do. DD1 and I have been many times and she also takes a trip of children every year from the school she teaches at to visit the relevant historic places realted to WW2 and the cold war that followed. Best loved place is Alexanderplatz where the Galleria Kaufhof is just magic, superb Weinachts Markt too and The Marionkircken Markt just off Unter den Linden that one is a MUST. Love the Zoo too and Fassbender and Rauch (spelling) for the chocolate models, oh I could go on for days!!! This year we're going out to one of the suberbs to find a Swedish Market which will be new to us and also to Pottsdam because they've got a lovely traditional wooden toy shop where we will buy wonderful things for my Zebra! WooHoo!!!!!
The other treat is the restaurant LEMKAs where I will be imbibing the best Leberkase meal to be had on the planet!!!! WooHoo again!0 -
Morning, ((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one, cold and wet here this morning. I have just blown the dust and pushed the dyson over the carpets and the kitchen floor.
We had thought about going to the carols tonight but OH has decided not to go, we were late getting up which means meals would be a bit too close together, so we will go to the little chapel next week for their carol service.
We have visitors coming tomorrow. I bought biscuits from Ikea, ginger than the crisp thins they make, a plate of those should go ok with a cup of tea if I cannot stir myself to make scones.
Bed change tomorrow........think they will be dried inside, more rain forecast.
This time in 2 weeks it will all be over and the decs etc packed away for another year.....We are going to DD2's for lunch this year. She has told DS2 he has to have his dad for lunch. He seems to go round the family, unfortunately none of them are really willing to have him, he is such a grump, in fact the grandchildren call him grumpa!!0 -
Afternoon
I had a very disturbed night last night , the neighbour had a baby last night , a little boy by c section , and her husband was so noisy coming home at around 1 am , he must have been excited and it caused the dog to bark. Hopefully I will go round and see the baby tomorrow
More present wrapping this morning , almost all of it done now , I was watching fifty shades of grey whilst wrapping but then DH came back from taking dd2 to work and I felt I couldn't watch it with him therelol so I flicked the tele onto kirstys homemade Xmas
I'll watch a bit more when he goes to pick dd2 up later
I'm still washing the sofa cushions taken me longer than I thought , last lot drying now just need to put them back on and put a few stitches in the Zips that have broken .

Good afternoon everyone,
hugs to everyone.
Tru I am loving the carols.
Mrs LW have a lovely time in Berlin.
Its a very damp and dull day here. I slept until 5.00am and then woke up coughing, so took some cough medicine and went back to sleep until 9.00am. I didn't hear DH leave for work.
DS and DD are both at work as well, so I have cleaned the house and have caught up with the washing. I have been shopping at Ald* and am having a browse on here while I have a snack.
DD is going to her boyfriend for dinner so just 3 of us, but not sure when DH will finish.
I started the Christmas shopping yesterday so have a few presents and will do the rest this week. I pretty much know what I want to get, it is just so painful spending the money:rotfl:
Well I had better get on and finish the ironing and I really must think about putting up Christmas decorations, but not sure if it will get done today.
Have a good evening everyone and stay warm. xSPC 11 #4450 -
Evening all,
A late posting from me. I could sleep the clock round. I'm pretty sure ive got another UTI. I havent been drinking enough.
Once i got myself out of bed and presentable we went looking for bulbs for my new lights. They come with halogen bulbs apparently but they are expensive to run so we went looking for LED bulbs.
Spent the afternoon cooking food for the men to take away to work tomorrow. I'm cooking the evening meal as i type. Its a bit late.
The mens laundry is all washed and their 'out of town' bags are ready just to pick up in the morning. I just have to do their packed lunches then i can relax.
