O/S Daily Thread Sunday 13th December

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning all, a wet and windy night here. I have finally slept properly, bar a few very brief wakings to see what time it was.
A few hours work later this morning, and I have house stuff to do in the afternoon.

OH has bought a camembert which we both love, it is being saved for Christmas but bought early to ensure ripeness. Unfortunately, although encased in a plastic sweetie tin, it is already stinking the kitchen out. I will wrap it in several plastic bags but I think I may have to hang it outside, from the clothesline, as I did last year. I can't think what else to do.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning all

I managed to stay in bed until almost 7 this morning, but I'd been awake since 6.
Hubby is on the early shift next week so we'll be up at 5:30.

The DW has just finished, the WM is still chugging away, I've folded the dry washing from the maiden & loaded it with damp washing. The forecast today is rain this morning and damp this afternoon.

Roast dinner today with reduced belly pork for hubby, I'll just have the 'go withs' roast pots, cabbage, carrots & gravy.

I had 2 DGD's yesterday, the 4 yer old stayed Friday night, the other one, 16 months got dropped of at 11:30 so SIL could take DGS to his football. The younger one is the only one who prefers me to hubby, it won't last I'm sure.

FIL sent text's and phoned yesterday, he's fallen out with the rest of the family, so he's speaking to us again, we will do what we can until he decides to fall out with us too.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs Hester

  • Good morning all,

Thank you Hester for starting us off.

Very damp this morning, but I don't think it is raining. We are going to the Crem this morning with the Christmas wreath for my Mum and Dad.

Not a lot to do, bathroom to be cleaned, but the washing is up to date. Unfortunately this has needed to be dried in the TD the last few days, but I don't like having damp washing hanging about.

We have half a leg of lamb for dinner today with all the trimmings and lashings of mint sauce. I am not sure whether this will be lunchtime or evening because I am not sure what DGD1 is doing today.

Tuesday morning I have DS and Bil coming for coffee and then I am meeting the girls I worked with at Wetherspoons in the evening for a steak and exchange cards and catch up on everyone's news.

Friday I have a nail appointment and on Saturday a trim and blow dry, so quite a busy week for me.

Have a good Sunday all and stay safe

  • Morning all. Alas another bad night for me but that's par for the course these days sadly. Fine, frosty and cold here this morning but what weather yesterday! It rained, with intermittent sleet, most of yesterday. We are safe enough up here but the main road to Skipton was flooded and cut off by road and rail from town. How much more rain is going to fall?!

I am doing a piece of beef for lunch today. A treat as we have really cut back on our beef eating recently. I've just prepped the veg etc in readiness.

We got the Xmas decs up yesterday but Mr TA is in disgrace! He is the least electrically minded person ever and, usually, everything is left for me to set up or sort out. He can't go wrong with a fibre optic tree I thought! Wrong!! All he had to do was shove the tree bit in the base, open up all the branches and switch on! But no he has to tamper and poke about in the base first! This meant he'd dislodged the colour change wheel thing and the tree stayed one colour! It's impossible to get at so we were stuck with it. I switched it on this morning and the colour is changing but there's an awful squealing noise going on too. Aaaargh!!

Meanwhile, we picked up the new DVD player yesterday but that's still in it's box. He's not getting his mitts on that too!

I thought I had bought everything we needed the other day - until I got out the moon candles - had bought a massive card of AA batteries but forgot we needed AAA ones! Then I started sticking the cards on the door and hardly any blue tack in the box! So might just pop down to B & M this morning to buy both.

Have a good day all (((((HUGS))))) to those wanting/needing them and take care xxx

    Morning everyone,

Dull and drizzly here, the girls are dried off and in their beds.

Had a lovely evening last night with the boys, they are such good company and I might be biased but thoroughly nice chaps :)
We went for a curry which isn't one of my favourite meals but ordered a veggie byriani which was very flavoursome have to say. Today my lovely three men are off to a footie match so will have the day to myself which actually, am quite looking forward to. Have charged up my clippers and intend to tidy up Billy, try and disguise some of his bald patches where injections etc went in and hopefully will also be able to get out for a walk.

No need for big Sunday roast as DOH will get something out so will just pick as and when I want, do have some HM chicken soup in freezer if fancy something warm, other than that intend to have some sofa time and catch up on my reading.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day, take care all x
  • DD and son-in-law are off to Norwich to pick up my DGS Ben this morning,so I have the three younger boys to take care off.So my kitchen drawer decluttering has been put on hold today. Its a three hundred mile round trip so they won't be back before late afternoon.I shall find something nice to watch on TV and feet up with my knitting I think as the weather isn't very nice at all. Lazy Sunday for the boys and I lies ahead I think:):):)
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing

  • Morning All

White frost all round here and a little foggy at the moment, hope that clears. Yesterday afternoon was quite nice, cold but a weak, watery sun and no rain!

The chap came to pick up the wash hand basin about 10 yesterday, I think he would have chatted all day! Got him away and then the washing machine arrived. Within 10 minutes of it arriving it was put to work - takes longer than the last one but is oh so quiet! So, the basket is now pretty much empty.

Cleaned the conservatory yesterday, it is just a dumping ground for stuff I don't know what to do with. Put some things in the shed, cleaned all the windows, floor, sofa and it looks semi decent now. Still leaks like a colander but hey ho! It will probably be knocked down next year, can't be bothered with it. Would rather sit outside so may have some sort of porch built instead.

Also cleaned the upstairs windows, cleaned the downstairs bathroom and put up the christmas tree. Just about to clean the fridge and then DD should arrive.

Have a good Sunday everyone, take care. XX
