Balance transfer dangers

I recently acquired a Post Office Mastercard as I wanted to take advantage of the 0% APR for 24 months. I transferred my Balance from my Debenhams card when I applied for the Post Office Card using my Debenhams Card Number. It has been 10 days now. Post Office have sent me a letter to say that the balance has been transferred. However, Debenhams say that the balance has not been transferred. So I am paying on 2 cards for the same balance! Both customer service helplines are advising me to contact the other company. I have spoken to the Citizens Advice Bureau and they have suggested only paying on the Post Office Card as well as keeping receipts of transfers. Debenham's have been reasonable and stopped any charges for late payments until their team investigate which can be up to 4 weeks. I think this is going to end up with me contacting the Financial Ombudsmen. I can't believe money can just be created like this between different parties. Has anyone had similar issues?

Can you be 100% sure that you entered the right number for your Debenhams card on the Post office application?

Hi jonesMUFCforever, thanks. Yes I got Post Office to read me the number back that they say has been processed and it is the Debenhams card that I entered. It doesn't expire for another 2 months.
