Arrangement to pay

Hi,

I've not yet had any AP dealings but recently challenged a 3 year old default as unaffordable. This was with CFO Lending who i know are currently unable to actively chase debt but its my understanding in the next few years they could be cleared to go again).

My last negative history is a 2 year old CCJ and although this debt hasn't got its way to me yet its amount was enough that i felt if summons got issued before the 6 years i might be stuck then for another x amount of years with a CCJ.
Anyway after threat of the FOS got the amount reduced to a 2 figure fee that i decided to accept to get it gone and am due to pay soon in one go
.I just noticed on my credit file that as well as being in default they have put an AP marker on for the month .I know the default drops in 3 years but does this AP marker and paying this nominal fee to close the account in full to avoid a CCJ mean i've just left that account on my file for a further 3 years after the default goes?.
I assumed as they lent wrongly the balance would just drop to what we agreed they'd reduce it to and it'd show as paid/settled like a normal account.

Any advice on the whole default/AP thing would be great incase i go this route again.

Many Thanks

James
