Confused, advice buying a Water Softenner, is this make & model OK?

I have never needed a water softener but having recently moved our new home needs one. The plumber who I am using has suggested this make and model. Can any of you experienced users tell me your opinion and whether you feel this model has the features that are generally needed. Any plusses or minuses that I should need to know about? We are a typical family of 3 and do not want any supply problems. The make is a Tapworks Infinity. Size is not an issue as it is going in a room in the corner.
I have tried to read up on them but I am so confused about twin tank, different salt styles etc....

I have also seen a Make called a Harvey's Dualflo, model Aquamax 1". This is British made which appeals to us, I believe it is more expensive, does anyone think it is worth the extra?
Many Thanks

Why do you think that you need one. I've lived in a hard water area for over 70 years and managed quite well without one.
Although the Naval establishment where I worked did have some problems. But they were catering for many hundreds of people and used enormous quantities of hot water for cooking, and showers and baths. cleaningI can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

It is long but there is lots of helpful advice.
We live in a very hard water area and have had a Monarch midi for 3 or 4 years now and I wouldn't be without one, the benefits are just too great!0 -
Manda, thank you for that link, it has answered most of my questions.0
