in Techie Stuff
I have not been using my desktop pc for the last few days (been working on my laptop). Noticed yesterday morning there was an automatic windows update overnight and restart (these are set to run at 3am). This morning there is a Bsod with message: kernal_data_inpage_error screen. Have never seen it before or had any previous problems .
have looked up solutions on web and all seem impossibly complicated for non techie like me. should I just call in a tech guy?
desktop runs Windows 7 pro latest uodatez and is set to auto update overnight. PC is about 2 years old and has an i5 processor. Plain vanilla install,no mods or big games.Runs Norton.

A quick search using google (but note the spelling of kernel) shows ways to fix this, eg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEdruAg0LII
You tend to have to boot into safe mode and get under the bonnet a bit.0 -
yes I restarted but it did it again..suspect I do not have skills to fix and need to get out tech guy.:(0

meanwhile it seems to be the screensaver which triggers it (maybe tbe call?) and has only happened since latest MS updates. I have turned off screensaver to see what happens next.0

the tech guy probably hasn't got the skills either. is there a filename on the stop screen
ignore the video, it's just an advert for some software which you don't want, but you could do the chkdsk c: /f part
if you are sure it's related to an update, check what updates have been installed in control panel, do a system restore, disable the updates for a while and monitor it. test the screen saver theory before and after. is it going into power save mode?
backupDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0
