Help please - ebay buyers address doesn't match postcode

Hi all,

I had someone buy a BIN off me and I am just getting it ready to send and the buyers address doesn't seem to match their postcode.

I have messaged the buyer and asked them to clarify if this is the case, but am wondering where I can go from here? They have no feedback, so I am guessing this is the first thing they have bought.

Thanks

Kel

  • Look up the correct postcode on Royal Mail and post to that. No point sending to an incorrect postcode, that's just asking for an item not received claim.

They have sent me a message on EBay with their current postcode. Can I send it with the correct postcode and still be convered by PayPal (the rest of the address is the same) so I assume I'd be ok?
  • I had this last year and managed to settle it.

Tell the buyer that you can only send to the address given. Point out where it is inconsistent. Ask them to either change it to the correct address or confirm that the address given is correct.

Only then should you post it.

A paypal address can't be changed unless payment is refunded and buyer pays again.

The address is correct, it's just the postcode is wrong. They want me to send it to the address given on their PayPal, but with the correct postcode.

As soolin says the address can't be changed unless the payment is refunded and the buyer pays again adding in the correct address and postal code.

How much is the item and how were you going to send it?

They should update their address in Paypal. For PP seller protection you must send the item to the address registered with PP.

As per the thread , buyer can't just update their address with paypal- the only way to do it is to refund and hope buyer will repay. It is also worth noting that it is possible that the paypal refund will trigger a defect.

In some situations, I've used Paypal postage to print the label, but then hand corrected to the correct post code. So as far as Paypal is concerned, I've used their label and the address provided. I've never had to put this to the test to see if this would save me in a dispute though....

I have done work rounds like that before, sometimes on a cheaper item it's the only logical and easy way to get something in the post.
