  • Morning all, up most of the night again and now look like the wicked witch of the west, never mind, am going to meet a friend later, DH has been shopping but isn't unloading the stuff until the rain dies down, so we may be waiting awhile for the shopping to be indoors.
I spoke to my mum and apparently it is sleety in Yorkshire, well in one bit of it anyway.
DS in his pit where he will undoubtedly remain for much of the day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Afternoon all,

I've been reading but it's usually last thing at night as I seem to have had a busy week. Hilstep - that's great news. What a lovely Christmas present :)

I've actually got the cards written and sent, posted the neighbours ones and I just have to stick the other few through various doors during the week. This afternoon I was hoping to wrap up most of the presents I have bought, mainly so I can see what I have. The boys will be at football but I think I have company so it will possibly have to wait until Monday or Tuesday.

Have a good weekend all :)

Went to sleep quite early then woke up at four a.m. had some water and got back to sleep two hours later.

Pouring with rain here so house is festooned with laundry drying. I had some fruit and coffee for breakfast then dd and her husband called to drop off their cat for me to look after and we had a coffee and chat. Neighbour just came to the door to bring a parcel they had taken in and said "there is a taxi coming up your drive!"

I got quite excited thinking maybe dd who is flying home today from Finland had arrived early or else another dd had decided to surprise me:j Turned out it was the wrong address :(

I need to wrap up warm and brave the rain to do a bit of shopping as two dds and SIL are coming on Sunday lunchtime. No idea what I am having later, maybe an omelette or some fish and veg.

Looking forward to viewing the dormer bungalow next week and hoping it will be suitable as I would like to move by end of January to somewhere smaller but still comfortable and fairly modern.

Well - it hasn't rained at all today, not been warm but at least it's been dry.

I took my parcel to the local PO and then decided to continue north and go to Oban. Did an Aldee shop (for Christmas goodies) and then did a little 'other' shopping at the big supermarket. Got new jimjams mainly. Only big mistake was buying a carton of cheesie footballs :j

My borrowed woodburner fan has been a big success. The back of the room is now getting the heat as are my feet. Next to the stove is too hot to sit at so I always retire to the back of the living room where my feet suffer. Now I'll have to buy one of these fans, it's made a big difference.

Didn't do any work, read a little, watched the birds feeding a lot and now gearing up for Strictly. I did bring a load of wood indoors if that counts?

Elona - I hope your house search goes well, I've been following your story with a bit of awe as you move through a new phase in your life. Now it seems a new house will make all the difference, so I wish you well.

It's not long until we have the shortest day and the light will slowly return.

More Christmas cards have arrived, I do feel the pressure more in this smaller but tighter knit community to respond. Living in the city it was easy to not bother with cards but here the social contact is more necessary. And what do I do about my nearest neighbours (who I rely on a lot for help) when they've just buried their oldest son? Can't send a card, can't ignore them - some advice here would be really appreciated.

So glad to be back home and in the warm. Looking forward to an evening in front of the pc whilst hubby feasts on Discovery Turbo.

Ive had my new lights for the living room. I'm pleased about that. I also bought a couple of things that Mother needed.

  • Hi ELONA you're so kind but I've only had it since Tuesday, think I caught it from the Zebra child, I usually hatch something within a couple of days of seeing him, luckily he's getting through all the infectious bugs at nursery, maybe I'd better enrol myself and be in the same place, there must come a time when I've had 'em all too maybe by the time he starts school and starts on some new ones??? It's less tickly today as the pharmacist recommended Buttercup to me as a way to loosen it, hope I sleep tonight or at least am less noisy He Who Knows could hear me through the radio and his headphones!!!

Could you send them flowers or a pot plant or else give them to them personally with a note to say you are thinking of them?
Thanks for the lovely comment. I am not as strong as I would like but my dds and SIL have been great and I don't want to let them or DH down by becoming a worry to them. If I can get settled in an easier to manage house then that should help.

Some people swear that rubbing V*cks on the soles of their feet and them putting on thick socks before going to bed works a treat. I used to find that various aromatherapy oils in a burner helped my breathing overnight.

I am so pleased you got the lights you wanted. It can really lift your spirits and change the whole atmosphere of the room.

I braved the wind and rain and got some shopping so having a quiet evening in the warm apart from keeping an ear out for grandkitty as my dd keeps calling him.

    Hugs to all

    Er - grandkitty is a "her!" :o

She is very nervous as she had been badly treated by her first owner(before dd and sil rescued her) but seems to like it here as I can hear her bouncing around happily investigating her dinner and her toys.

  • GERS - I'm with ELONA on this one. My choice too would be a plant for your bereaved neighbours. When my mum died my friend gave me a Jasmine (signifying eternal love) and I found the incredible scent off it a real comfort. Or what about a Remembrance Rose to plant in their garden.
