EBay- How best to proceed ?

I have found an item I have been looking to buy for sometime.

Unfortunately the listing ended a few weeks ago with the reserve price being unmet. I messaged the seller to see if he still had the item, was willing to sell it and at what price.

My question is .. if we agree a price what should I do?

Bit worried about using Paypal outside of eBay ( due to losing eBay money back guarantee cover) as the item will cost a few hundred pound and if a B.I.N.price is setup what is to stop someone else buying it ?.

Surely you can buy it as soon as the seller lists it as BIN?

Paypal will cover you same as ebay would and as he is avoiding the ebay fee you can work out a better deal

usually items dont show up in listings as soon as they are submitted, the only way youd see them is via direct link. So if you are online when the seller posts it as BIN then its doubtful anyone else will have seen it at that point, Ive done it a couple of times when ive missed the ends of auctions which havnt had any bids.

Thank you for your replies . I decided to stick with going through eBay and had the seller call me when he was ready to relist so that we could coordinate our timing. Now just waiting for it to arrive!

Just as an aside, sellers can now reply to messages with an offer which sets up a BIN just for the buyer who sent the question, not sure if it works on ended items through.
