Safe to send to a PO box?

I had a buyer in the USA win an item I had at auction.
I sent the invoice, incorporating international postage.
They messaged me telling me they had changed the shipping address and it's now in the UK and includes a PO box number.
Is there any risk to dispatching to a PO box? The item is too large for a letterbox and will be sent "signed for"

Yes, they can. OVERSEAS PO boxes cannot be sent signed for but the OP clearly states it's now a UK PO Box.
PO Boxes are just held at the delivery office, or delivered to a specified UK address. No different to any other Royal Mail.
