  • Try one of the Skoda forums - BriSkoda rings a bell (?) as the symptoms might be familiar to someone.

misdiagnosis and replacing random parts unnecessarily (usually) at a customers expense in not unknown in the car business.

Poor starting was first diagnosed as a faulty temperature sensor, then spark plugs and now coils, none of which really fit the description in post 4
I'm aware of the practice, used to work in the trade.

OK Car is in garage, been advised it needs 4 new coil packs, which are a known issue apparently with VAG cars.

Had this on a 1.4 Polo at the 10-year mark a couple of years ago. Not expensive.
  • Hello everyone!
When I keep the key in the ignition switch for 10-15 seconds, the word "SAFE" shows up on the instrument cluster. The car goes to 1000 rpm and then stalls immediately.

Any one has the same problem?

Would be a good idea to start your own thread, and give details of the car - is it also a Fabia?

If it is a VAG car, then 'SAFE' on the display usually means the immobiliser chip in the key has been damaged and is not being read, or the inductive ring around the ignition switch has failed (they do) and needs to be replaced. Does your spare key work?
