Gear problems after clutch change

I think you meant "some" cars have concentric slave cylinders.
I am fairly certain that the mk1 Ka had a CSC.
If I remember correctly the TT had a CSC so likely many VAGs might have had one since the late 90's
The only reason I have ever believed why people change the CSC is because it would be stupid not to.
In the same way as fitting a friction plate but not changing the pressure plate or leaving the release bearing.
It is a lot of work to replace the it if you have to revisit the job
If the friction plate is worn for example then the rest of the clutch parts have the same miles on them so will not have long to go.0 -
So I took car back to garage today. System rebled and fluid run through it. They said they couldn't see any problem with the gears but suggested I take it round the block to try it. To me is is exactly the same. The gears upshift seemlessly but downshifting, all gears feels extremely notchy and like I am forcing them. After a few minutes of driving they are fine and move down smoothly.
Garage have offered to replace clutch under warranty as clutch could be sticking but I can only have one replacement. Don't know whether to take replacement and hope it a) solves the problem and b) I don't develop a problem with new clutch as it won't be covered under warranty. My clutch pedal has also developed a squeak over last few days which mechanic said could be release bearing wearing.
I asked about gearbox oil used and told it was replacement as per user manual0 -

I know that some Citroen boxes are very sensitive to the wrong oil, such as the five speed fitted to my Berlingo.
That could be the case with the Clio box.
The fact that they are going to replace the clutch makes me think they are a pretty good garage, the unscrupulous would just make excuses.
In my experience competent garages rarely make mistakes with things like oil.0 -
It's pretty remarkable that you needed a new clutch in a low-powered car that's less than five years old. What had gone wrong with it?0

Not that unusual in small cars that have spent their life in a busy City.
My Berlingo is an 07 with 33k on it, we have put on 5k of those.
The clutch was heavy a while ago and the mate I bought it from changed the cable, he routed the cable correctly which is often the problem. Some people can be convinced that a heavy clutch is a sign that you need a new one. It can be, but not always.
It spent most of its life in central London.
I doubt if that clutch is in the same condition as a Berlingo that has had 33k motorway miles put on it in a year.
Though our old Clio had a real high biting point, which never got any worse over 6 yrs until near the end, but some people could probably be convinced that a high biting point alone is a reason to change a clutch.0
