County Court Judgement

Hello, new to the site so please be gentle.

I've recently found out that I have a CCJ registered against my name dating back to 2012. I have contacted the creditor in question who have stated they cant find my account details. I have contacted the court who have given me limited details, and I have contacted the solicitors who have no record of the situation.

I want to settle this debt but no one wants to take my money... any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi Biggs5314, welcome to MSE.

If you have tried to find out this information over the phone but have had no success then I would suggest an email or letter. You should be able to find the case reference number for the CCJ quite easily (either from the court or from your credit file or the trust online website). Contact the claimant on the CCJ with that reference and ask them for an update - if they sold the debt on then ask them who to (and you could even ask them for proof of the deed of assignment so that there can be no confusion). This debt is less than 6 years old so it should be reasonably easy to track down, you may just need to be persistent.

Please be aware as well that paying the CCJ at this stage would not mean that it would be removed from your credit file, it will still be on there fore 6 years from the date of judgement but paying it would mean that the status on your credit file would change to 'settled' and you would be at no further risk of court enforcement. Hope you get it sorted.
