£14 paypal chargeback fee ???

Just got the following email off paypal.....



The buyer stated that they did not authorise this purchase.
We did not receive the necessary documentation we requested from you, so we were unable to dispute this case with your buyer’s financial institution.
Here are the case details:

• Buyer's name: Ahmed XXXXXXX
• Buyer's email: ahmed.XXXXXX@gmail.com
• Your transaction ID: XXXXXXXXXXXX
• Payment date: 26 September 2015
• Payment amount: £0.06 GBP
• Disputed amount: £0.06 GBP

In addition, a £14.00 GBP chargeback fee has been debited from your PayPal account.
We understand that you may not have been expecting this chargeback. If your PayPal account balance shows an amount owing to us, please restore your balance.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.




I did not expect a £14 fee for a 6p transaction, is there any appeal for this.

Is it definitely from Paypal, have you checked the email from where it came, also may be worth logging into your paypal account too (not from any link inthe email tho).

6p? What are you selling for 6p. Even on a micropayment account, you'll get 1p from that transaction.

Yes it is from paypal, logged in and checked, now got a neg balance.

Phone them, they are usually pretty good at removing the chargeback fee when you complain!

Just done that, must say absolute fantastic customer service, straight away refunded the £14 with no quibble and then even found a way to also refund the 6p, so zero balance.
