Panasonic cashback failure

Guys, I bought a Panasonic camera in November and you need to wait a month before you can claim. they sent me a reminder email today so I went through the process. When I entered the serial number, it says already used!

Just wondering if I am the victim of a scam here where someone in the supply chain has used that number with a receipt?

Anyone heard of this before please?

Thanks

  • How did they know you had brought it, unless you have registered it already.
If you haven't already given them the serial number then go back to the shop with a screen print and take it back you brought it on the basis it was new and that you could have cashback, this is a retailer/ supplier problem if the serial number has been used fraudulently.

Who did you buy the camera from?

Have you contacted Panansonic CS about this?

    Yes - I know - I'm petty.

Did you but from a legit authorised retailer (eg John Lewis) or from a hooky cheap site (eg https://www.my-super-discount-cameras4-you.gb.com [est 2015])?

It could be the reason the purchase price was lower (if the latter) was because they pre-register each device to give you the discount upfront to appear cheaper. Or might supply grey market imports, ineligible for the refund.

    Just some thoughts :)

Did the retailer you bought it from promote or say there was a cash back promotion on the camera, if they did then chase them there responsible, if they didn't promote or say anything about it, they really aren't liable for anything.
Lots of these manufacture cash back promotions state in the terms and conditions that only if bought from authorised uk retailer that are promoting the offer.
