Faulty zanussi cooker, service centre being unreasonable

  • Well poppie I can only imagine you either don't work or you are lucky enough to have a jobthat allows you to have time off when you like even at short notice. The vast majority of people are not that lucky. I understand how difficult it is for them to stick to either an AM/PM appointment but the fact is they won't even attempt it. Given the number of people working shifts these days businesses need to adapt in order to keep getting their custom. It's the way of the world unfortunately and these guys don't seem to live in the same.one as me. I have now had a response from zanussi and a phone number to call so I will see what they suggest, at this point I would be happy with using a local repairer if they will authorise it so my guarantee is not affected.

Could you not pay someone to dog sit for the day to let the repair person in?

You could choose the 1pm start, so only pay for a dog sitter for the afternoon.

Dog sitters are generally quite reasonably priced and nice people!!

It is frustrating, but they are offering service. It is just unfortunate the time of year and the requirements of your job.

As a teacher (albeit now on maternity) i would not have been able to take a day off until the first Monday in the school holidays, which is very close to Christmas.

Sometimes that is life and you have to seek some sort of alternative.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Why are you concerned about the guarantee?
It appears that you are never going to be available for the thing to be repaired under guarantee.

There's still a chance that any local repairer will want an all day appointment.

Companies have to have a one size fits all policy in place otherwise trying to adapt to fit every customers potential requirements would result into higher costs which in turn would be passed onto customers on purchase. As I have already suggested why don't you get the part yourself and fit, they don't need to know which then shouldn't effect your guarantee.

I looked into the option of a dog sitter as a friend does this for a living along with dog walking and house sitting. The only reputable ones in my area are fully booked and cannot.accommodate me at such short notice, I was offered Tuesday and Thursday next week. John Lewis have been trying to resolve this today and managed to book an appointment on Thursday on the basis that I will only be available until 1pm and it may need to be cancelled and re-scheduled once they call to confirm the appointment time. Yesterday service care refused point blank to do this, they said it wasn't possible and I had to be available all day. Today they've agreed something with John Lewis that they wouldn't even discuss with me. When John Lewis spoke to them yesterday they got the same response, I had to be available all day or they couldn't book the appointment. Of course they weren't being the slightest bit unreasonable.

Wealdroam that's not actually true. It's a problem because I work for a company who are flat out in their peak run up to Christmas. My holidays run from January to December so I have none left to book. Any time off unpaid is at the companies discretion. Had this happened three months ago I could have worked around it. My issue is with the inflexibility of the service centre and their point blank refusal to even book an appointment if I could not be available all day. They gave JL the same response and yet now they've had a complete turn around. Zanussi and service care would not tell me which parts were needed, they will not authorise another repairer as they have no come back if it goes wrong. If this cooker blows up and is not repairable I want the guarantee to cover that and it won't if I don't use their repair centre. As it stands the oven is unsafe because when you use the door the glass falls out, add heat to that and it's not a good situation. This has been dragging on for three weeks and all came to a head yesterday because I tried to book the appointment. John Lewis are a bit confused on what their issue was as it's possible to reschedule the night before if their estimated arrival time is an issue. I wasn't rude to them, quite the opposite so there was no excuse for them being so obstructive.
  • After being admitted to by Electrodux / Zanussi that my model of fridge freezer is a faulty line - the fridge heats up to room temp which ruins the food, I have just been called by Electrodux by the most arrogant man I've ever spoke to who refused point blank to fund the fix on my fridge freezer.

Disgusting way to treat a customer who has been told theyve got a faulty model of product.

The least they could do is fund the fix, let alone the cost of the food the fridge has ruined just before Christmas!!

Who did you buy the fridge from, and how old is it?

What is the product code, has there not been a recall?
