help really dont understand this!!

hi,
i was just looking for advice,i know i have an appalling credit rating, as a teenager i had several mobile contracts out etc..
now looking to the future im improving my credit rating,

but this is what i need help with i assumed my partner had a terrible credit rating as he said he had a 2 contract mobiles out when he was a teenager (never payed) so we decided to improve his aswell,
so i thought the first step is checking his credit rating, so i heard about a new site noodle and signed up to it,but then when he went to view his credit rating it said 'Unfortunately we cannot currently generate a credit report for you. This is because you don’t currently have enough of a credit history to populate a full credit file'
i dont understand as he has had credit in the past and has recently been turned down for credit,
any help/advice on this would be much appreciated.
thank you

ZX81 is right, you should check all three credit files to try and get the full picture. Noddle searches the Call Credit file so check Equifax and Experian as well.

Your overall credit rating can be affected by many factors, such as your age, whether or not you are on the electoral role, people you may have/ had a financial association with and your credit history (or lack there of). Information is only on your file for 6 years, so if you and/or your partner have not had any credit for over 6 years may not have much of a credit history. This can make it harder for future lenders to assess whether or not you are a risk and can result in you being turned down for credit.

Check the other 2 files and hopefully that will shine more light on the situation.
