I can't be "always", literally, perfectly decent as I once posted something on here quite some time ago now and you though I'd gone too far.

I think we can now look back at that with interest (or I can anyway) as, earlier on that day, I made one point - always the truth that hits the nail on the head again! - later I posted but then decided to remove it and the reason why - I think it proved the point that I had originally made! So it's not me, about anyone else on the thread that actually saw anything as no-one was actually caused any personal physical bother with it but instead it's about other people, potentially, encountering it and their own misunderstandings of the context and their own misinterpretation of what I was actually saying. So, in order to protect other people, of pure hypothetical existence at that stage, from their own misinterpretations, I couldn't even mention something! Very interesting. Proved the point I had made beforehand - and probably annoyingly so for most people!

    I am often annoyingly right!:D:rotfl:

I have just found out from a look for some of what I could remember the song that caused me the problems earlier this afternoon:

    http://genius.com/Ti-live-your-life-lyrics

It turns out that I actually own a copy of that song as I have a copy of the album (the unaltered version as well), although it's not a song off that album that I often play and therefore I didn't know it. So, it's actually a song I own:huh: and doesn't cause me any problems listening to it at home. In a public shop, I just think it's inappropriate (actually beyond mere inappropriate as it gets me a lot worse).

It's the sound between the words "I'll grab a" and "by the collar quick" that is the material that caused me the reaction. (I'd forgotten the lyric, but not the individual word, but realise it was now that lyric on seeing a copy of the lyrics.) I didn't notice anything else that bothered me in the version of the song that they played. I thought there was no need for such material, when it was clear and therefore explicit, what it meant across the shop. Really was not happy with it to a very serious extent. There's no need for such material there - they could edit the altered sound that means the word out. If he'd just gone into the studio and recorded an actual clean version and sung "I'll grab a person by the collar quick" instead, it would never then have given me any problems to hear such a version. Rather than playing a dirty version that they call clean when, because it has got the racially offensive language in any format in it at all, is not clean according to my standards (and I am the involuntary listener who is the person caused offence by it in the context in which it was played - namely a public shop). They should have rerecorded it and produced an acceptable version that used the word "person" for example. I would never have had any issue or problems if I had heard that. I would never have known about the original word from it. It may seem a very tiny thing - however the very tiny things are the most important to me. It's like someone dropping something and then saying that they had F word past tense and then "up with that" in front of the elderly female bank clerk and causing her offence. If they had changed it to "messed up with that", there would have been no problem. That may be called a small thing too. Just a single change of a word. However, it would make all the difference in that situation and so too with me.

So, sometimes, a single individual word can be a problem and hence yet again justifying my own taking objection, in a physical serious sense unfortunately too, on the same basis.

As the original lyric turns out to be precisely what I got from the version I heard, the message was the same and was not censored and the attempted failure at censorship was ineffective and the song still offensive. Not what I want to hear there or have communicated to me, not acceptable to use such language, in any form, across that place. Indeed, rationally, I consider my offence to have been "justified", since it turned out to be that that word was originally used.

It seems they could not be bothered to go back to the studio and use the word "person" instead, in order to make a version that could be played more widely, instead they took the lazy way out of merely altering part of the sound and not making it acceptable but continuing to contain the version of the word in the soundtrack (being the material that means it and sounds too much like it). They could not be bothered to use the acceptable word "person" instead in that place and therefore demonstrated no concern whatsoever for myself that might encounter it.

Sorry, I should not be caused concern in a shop - by "little" things like this, that aren't little at all for me because of the extent of the problem that they give me with them. I should not have music with lyrics that causes me concern in a public shop place like that, and there is absolutely no excuse to playing such an offensive song that causes me problems like that. I should not be in a shop and have a word of racial connotation (the rationally most offensive word of all these days - I note the different spelling however it does not remove offence for me in this context of hearing) put with me through their playing like this, when I do not wish to have such material there and it is, to me, inappropriate and unacceptable to play it there (although, fortunately, I'm not getting angered by it at the moment).

It caused me distraction when in the shop, wasted about 10-15 minutes, during which I was unable, as a result, from my physical feeling I was experiencing, to continue shopping and caused me quite a bit of an anxiety at several separate moments after it had been played whilst I was then still in the shop - and had me pacing around at home (albeit briefly) about twenty minutes later.

It's rationally stupid really (when I stand back from it and look back at it, and especially as I am okay with the same song in my home), but that's the effects it had. I suppose it's the same for everyone - sometimes language is appropriate in some places but not others so, again, my concern is rationally based in that sense and it's obviously not appropriate for me in the shop. So, again, on that extent, my own personal offence (unfortunately emotional physical) is justified. I still don't think it's acceptable in the shop (you can argue and argue and argue and, I'm afraid, with the person caused offence, you are just never going to get them to see otherwise - that's me on this occasion, so I don't think anyone is ever going to get me to accept otherwise - I still think the part in the song I heard was wrong, in the form in which I heard it (I'm not considering any other form as I didn't hear that)). I think there's a bit of this "you wouldn't say this on the radio (even if you might use it in your home)" thing still in my mind from my childhood, as I have no problems with actual use of language in normal life (useless in front of children) but this sound-system playing thing gets to me. And even though it wasn't a radio playing in the shop. On this occasion, with this specific word, I wouldn't even use this word in my own home, so it's not even something I would say, even though it might be "acceptable" for him to say it there.

I suppose at least being caused offence in shops and unable to continue shopping as a result has the side effect of saving money, even if it means I didn't buy all of what I may otherwise have done and would have been useful to have done. However, it's not right with the feelings it caused me to experience at all.

It is like an online Jack Fult0n with a similar range - though without this discount offer it is probably not worth it for most items given the delivery costs?

Well, I don't know - I might get an apology (beyond the one in the store that didn't seem meant) together with a GC although that was not my intention. I wrote and sent my email to them a lot earlier (it always causes me to contact places:o to tell them what happened and how it made me feel). They have probably lost out on the sale of one additional item that I would have likely bought - if I had been able to identify it and buy it in the time - and the loss of that caused because the customer (me) was not entirely comfortable and of neutral feeling inside throughout their (my) entire period in the shop. I don't mean it was discomfort as such - I know that sounds strange - but not being able to think straight or deal with anything else and quite a bit of anxiety in two different periods within minutes of each other. (It's not wholly predictable in advance what actual experiences I will have, but that's what they were on this occasion - fortunately I suspect it was seven years since the last occasion of something similar elsewhere, had this been yet another instance within a week and a continuation of that it would have really really seriously impacted on me extremely and far more I feel - folks, I would not be okay at the moment and would probably still be feeling anxious, heart racing, completely angry and continuously bad for a period of three weeks thereafterwards! So, fortunate that it is, in this context, a one-off and not now regular and my emotional feelings from it have, I think, gone - except that I'm obviously still aware of it now so not 100% neutral in that respect - without it, I would not even have that. I don't know - maybe there is now some latent heart race that will now creep on me, unawares, in 20 minutes' time:(. I hope not though.)

It's just brought me back onto this earlier on, in a manner that, for me, was unwanted. I obviously have issues with it, but I'm not going to be thinking about those now.:) So, goodnight and I'll be back here (better or worse) later on!

Sad, I know, but just read through the APG t&cs again and notice the following - not aware we knew this about M prices ...?
14.2 M prices are updated once weekly (on Thursday) using in-store shelf prices which are collected in a representative sample of stores across Great Britain each week.

Not sure if there are other changes in there?
